HEADING – EXPLOSIVE EXCLUSIVE – 2oceansvibe Blows Bree Street Brothel Scandal Wide Open

If you’ve been paying attention these last few days you’ll know a little about the Bree Street restaurant The Nunnery.

For the sake of clarity we’ll run through this one with a fine comb, just so everyone is on board from the start.

It all begins with a post on Facebook by a concerned Bree Street resident, accusing The Nunnery and its owner Garith Nunn of running a brothel from 207 Bree Street.

You can read that story HERE, which culminated in the building’s owner, Percival Choritz, offering a R10 000 reward for anyone who could provide evidence to back up those claims.

We then received an email that contained a first-hand account of what a patron saw going on behind closed doors (read that HERE), although that account certainly wouldn’t be proof enough to claim the bounty.

As the story gathered legs Garith Nunn spoke to the media and gave his version of events, claiming that a turf war was to blame for the allegations made against his establishment.

We covered that story HERE, but watch the video below so you’re up to speed:

Unfortunately none of that leaves us any closer to the truth, which is where we arrive at another email that came our way.

This, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, is where it gets all kinds of spicy. You’re going to want to get comfortable, because if you want to prove something like this you have to play the long game.

It turns out some online digging turns up evidence that the address, 207 Bree Street, has been operating as a brothel for a number of years. We’ll start with a certain listing for Phoenix Rising, the name having once been Bedazzled.

Exhibit A, a screenshot from a site called WikiSexGuide. Pay attention to the third listing:

Phoenix Rising features again on a thread discussing escort agencies on MyBroadband:

Over to a screenshot from SAPunter.net, which calls itself ‘The Original Online Community for Escort Reviews in South Africa’. These are dated July of 2014, and discuss a woman called Cleo:

Not exactly a glowing review, but I think it’s clear that Cleo was at one time operating out of 207 Bree Street.

This again from SAPunter:

A review of a girl called Roxy from the same site, December of 2014 this time:

And now Penelope, May 2015:

Over to Adultway.co.za, which basically says it all. Another listing for Phoenix Rises’ services:

We’ll go on and look at Escort South Africa, where we can find a review of a woman called Melissa from back in 2013. You’ll see that address, 207 Bree Street, mentioned once more as the venue.

This one contains some graphic descriptions of sex, consider yourself warned:

I don’t know if you’ve ever heard of NaughtyAds.co.za, but once again you can find Phoenix Rising mentioned – this time as a ‘gentlemen’s club’.

By now the evidence is really starting to stack up, but Mr. Choritz (who has offered that R10 000 reward) may take some convincing before he parts with his money.

Enter Adultainment.co.za and another listing, simply showing the address and a description of services offered:

I’m not sure who does their copy but maybe they should have a word in their ear about basic grammar. Then again, if you’re walking through those doors you probably aren’t bothered with such minor details.

More proof the doubters out there will say – should we see two more listings for Phoenix Rising to really beat home our point?

Just for good measure, how about some social media presence?

We’ve heard the brothel now operates under the name Callagal, which even we couldn’t take credit for making up. Some proof of this is required and we will duly oblige.

Back to SAPunter we go, and pay attention to the dates of the posts below:

Look closely at the bottom of this listing, you can clearly see Callagal listed ‘to see more of the girls’:

And again. This, at the time of writing, was still live and says it HAS BEEN POSTED IN THE LAST MONTH – link HERE.

All of this leaves us asking one vital question – how can you connect Garith Nunn and The Nunnery directly to Callagal.co.za?

And now for the money shot, if you will, the Callagal.co.za registrant details.

We turned to ThisIsMe, an online identity verification service, to check the registrant details for website. Here’s what we found…

Well, what do you know? The same email address that registered Callagal.co.za also registered Nunnery.co.za.

You can check it out for yourself here – this time we used WhoIs and punched in callagal.co.za:

And there are those results once more:

Same physical address, same registrant email address.

What if you visit the domain registration site https://whois.domaintools.com/, which can tell us exactly who has registered web domains, and try Callagal.com?

My oh my, what do we find? You can see those search results HERE, but a screenshot (in case things change all of a sudden) is in order:

Registrant name – Garith, which isn’t the most frequent spelling going around.

Registrant Street – 207 Bree Street.

Then there’s something as simple as just Googling ‘callagal.co.za’. On the fourth page of results, this:

The advert has since been removed, but we can see this was once listed:

somone to rebuild my sites callagal.co.za and the .com version. They are…

So Callagal.co.za and Callagal.com are owned by the same person – it’s all falling into place now.

This one might be of great interest as well, the site Locanto (free online classified ads) carrying this:

That number, 021 424 8862, looks rather familiar. Google ‘The Nunnery Bree Street’ and you get THIS story, which lists the contact numbers for The Nunnery down the bottom:

It’s cheeky alright, and we won’t go into the whole ‘eager to show you a good time’ jibe either.

Now during his video interview with News24 (recap HERE in case you skipped that video up top) Garith says his residence is now at 97 Plein Street, where the police entered during that video, and he rents the rooms out on AirBnB.

Interesting, because it turns out 97 Plein Street is in fact zoned as a commercial property. Below the deeds office showing the property as ERF 5131 Cape Town:

And then the City Of Cape Town with their evaluation and zoning information:

That middle one – 5131 Cape Town listed as non-residential, which means commercial to you and I.

And good luck trying to find a listing on AirBnB for that property too – surprise, surprise, it ain’t on there.

If he isn’t renting those rooms out on AirBnB what might they be used for? We have had little birdies tell us that some of the operations may have moved to these premises, and in the News24 video they claim to have a source that says they believe a brothel operates from the property.

Now I don’t know what kind of evidence Percival Choritz needs to fork over that R10 000, but I think it’s about time we had a word with the man.
