  • What To Expect Now That Bill Cosby Has Been Charged

Suddenly, Bill Cosby can no longer escape prosecution. After years of accusers coming forward, the 50 plus women all have similar stories: he drugged me; he sexually assaulted me – or he tried to.

On Wednesday, Cosby was arraigned in a court in Pennsylvania on felony charges which stem from accusations by Andrea Constand, the first of dozens of women to go public against the comedian.

But what will happen now? Although no date has been set, analysts predict that the trial could start in 9 – 12 months. In the meantime, Cosby’s next court appearance is 14 January and is currently on a $1 million bail.
He currently faces three felony charges of aggravated assault which could get him up to up to 10 years max. However, in Pennsylvania, that could be brought down to about two to three years behind bars.

Although, at the end of the day, it’s all up to the jury.

This is a prosecutor that clearly has identified cases and only brings cases in which he can win. If you’re on the side of being charged by this prosecutor, that’s going to be some cause for concern.

Attorney Gloria Allred, who represents 29 of the women, said some may be called as witnesses, but it is up to the district attorney as to who will be called to the stand.

When and if the court case begins, it will be a long fall for the famed comedic icon. His once wholesome family demeanour has been shrouded by the indecent accusations, causing a whirlwind of defamation against his character. Cosby, whose net worth is around $400 million, will be able to cover the costs, but no amount of money will set his reputation straight.
