While workers were attempting to secure a crane in the middle of a short but blustery snowstorm in downtown Manhattan on Friday morning, the nearly 600-foot-tall construction crane came crashing down. During an attempt to lower the crane because of unsafe conditions, workers lost control and the crane wrecked havoc on its way down.
David Wichs, 38, was killed instantly when the crane pinned him to the snow-lined street.
Although there are many photographs of the aftermath, one guy, hanging out on the 30th floor of an apartment block nearby, unwillingly captured the whole thing with some very interesting commentary to boot.
