If You Own A Decent Pair Of Sunnies You Really Should Read This

The worst thing about sunglasses is that they need constant attention to keep them spick and span. Not really though - your easy to follow guide awaits.

Owning a pair of sunnies can be such a drag at times. When you have been out for the whole day and it gradually gets dark, you have to schlep them off your face (unless you have more swag than a 90s rapper). This can cause some problems as putting them in a safe spot can be tough. Not only could they get broken, but they might get scratched, bent or worst of all, stolen.

We thought we would give you the little lowdown on how to take care of those precious protectors, since winter is here and you’ll be removing them from your face more often as the clouds roll past.

How should you clean your sunglasses:

  • The best way to clean your sunglasses is by gently rubbing them with a lens cleaning cloth and a liquid cleaner specifically designed for eyewear lenses, or with a pre-moistened lens towelette.
  • To avoid damage, never clean your sunglasses with paper towels or clothing, which can grind dust and fibers into lenses and leave scratches.
  • Avoid using household detergents or soaps. While a few mild soaps don’t harm lenses, today’s extra strength soaps are powerful enough to slowly disintegrate lens coatings. Glass cleaners especially are highly corrosive and can damage your lenses quickly and are not designed for use on the non-glass lens materials used in sunglasses. While none of these products will do immediate apparent damage to your senses, over time and with repetition, the damage will become visible.

We’re guessing by now that you bought your sunglasses from a local Sunglass Hut as they have the best selection of designer brands available. Best yet is that you can take your sunnies in for a complimentary in-store cleaning and adjustment – something you should do once or twice a year.

  •  Always be sure to keep your sunglasses in a case to prevent damage. When you get your hands on a new pair from Sunglass Hut, they come with a specifically designed case just for your brand of sunglasses, reason in itself to showoff
  • Don’t leave your glasses anywhere that you could step on them.
  • Take off your glasses before you spritz hairspray, perfume, or cologne. Not only can it damage the lenses, but it can also dirty the lenses and nose pads.
  • Don’t sleep with them!

Got it, great. Now go get some sexy frames to make every winter look that much cooler.
