  • Did You Have A Strained Muscle Or Sore Jaw Recently? It Might Be A Silent Heart Attack – And Things Could Get Worse

There are a number of sobering statistics about heart attacks out there, but if you consider that every 43 seconds an American suffers a heart attack you can come close to understanding the dangers.

Don’t come with jokes about their diet of McDonald’s and the like, this isn’t the time or place for funny business ek se.

Now a new study has shown that almost half of all heart attacks might be silent, which CNN elaborates on:

Silent heart attacks can be detected by EKG, which measures the heart’s electrical activity.
Signs of a silent heart attack can include unexplained fatigue and discomfort in the jaw, upper back or arms. Pain can even be mistaken for indigestion.
Women are more likely to die of silent heart attacks, said [cardiologist  Nieca] Goldberg, because women are more likely than men to have the symptoms of heart attack be mistaken for symptoms of other chronic conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure.
She added that women are also more likely to be concerned with the well-being of their families instead of themselves first and frequently minimize their symptoms.
That bit about it getting worse? You better believe it:
Having a silent heart attack increased the chances of dying from heart disease threefold and increased chances of dying from any cause by 34%,

Look after yourselves friends, and it always pays to err on the side of caution when it comes to your health.
