Trevor Noah is a funny guy, and slowly but surely the rest of the world is coming to realise what we have known for quite some time.

Now and again, though, something happens that calls for a more sombre reflection – and the horrific shooting in Orlando is one such tragedy.

Noah took a moment, before the jokes and funny punchlines came thick and fast, to reflect on how abnormally normal these mass shootings have become in the land of the free.

Someone is talking some sense – just a pity that sense holds so little weight in America’s political landscape.

If you’ve ever heard of Samantha Bee, who used to be a correspondent on The Daily Show back when Jon Stewart was host, you’ll know she isn’t one to mince her words either.
