It’s quite a vibe living down here in the Cape, with one of the perks being that overseas friends are always keen to come visit.

Maybe it’s the natural beauty, maybe it’s the people, maybe it’s the fact that they can live like kings with that foreign dough (we don’t judge) – however you look at it, our neck of the woods is something of a hotspot.

Not that you need help believing that but how about the fact that the Cape Town CBD is now the most visited tourist attraction in South Africa – BOOM.

All of that means you’re going to be playing tour guide a fair amount, which is something I’m usually OK with. But, every now and again, work and other life stuff gets in the way and you need to pawn your visitors off on the pros.

That’s why we love the look of what’s happening over at Gummie, where a ‘Superguide’ will take them travellers off your hands and make it a day to remember.

They’ll also help you Jozi folk out – check HERE – but for now we’ll stick with down south.

How about the brilliantly named Whale, Wine and Wors Tour? Sounds tasty – here’s what you’re in for:

You will begin the day with a visit to Stellenbosch, where you’ll visit a quirky Oom Samie Se Winkel store and stop over at the family-owned Middelvlei wine farm. Think relaxed wine tasting and a tour of the cellars, a perfect opportunity to learn more about the art of wine making.

The next stop is Grabouw, a little town and a hidden gem of the Western Cape, where you will enjoy a unique South African experience — pairing of Boerewors (a farm sausage) with locally produced cider, as well as biltong and wine pairing in the winemaker’s cellar.

For lunch as well as wine and chocolate pairing, you will visit Hemel-en-Aarde Valley Estate and enjoy the views of the rolling hills and vineyards. Now for the world’s best land-based whale watching spot — an elegant coastal town of Hermanus.

The final stop is the Wildekrans Boutique Wine Estate, which is where you’ll sample some of the estate’s award-winning wines and Grappa.

Sounds like one helluva day out – all your wine tastings, food pairings, lunch and transport included for just R650. Guests will be collected from a preferred location within the CBD, and returned later that day well-fed and hydrated.

Then again maybe your visitors are more inclined to stick closer to home – no problem, you point them in the direction of the Curated Cape Town Half Day Tour and they get the best we have to offer:

Go on a guided walking tour of the colourful Bo-Kaap district then hop onto the famous Table Mountain cable car to experience panoramic views of Cape Town (bad weather option includes a drive to Signal Hill and the Noon Day gun). Visit the Kirstenbosch Botanical gardens and see a fantastic representation of South Africa’s unique fauna and flora, including indigenous fynbos.

Collected at 9AM or 1PM, home five hours later with some of our most-loved landmarks ticked off.

You see you don’t ALWAYS have to play host – you can sit down and pick a tour or activity with them, then rely on the team of experts at Gummie to handle the rest.

Then again there’s always the option of hopping on board yourself – we often talk a good game about how much we love our city, let’s get out there and explore like those from aboard manage to do when they get here.

It’s lekker in the Cape, ek sê, so make sure those who pay us a visit get the most out of their stay.
