“First Drafts of Rock” with Jimmy Fallon could be one of The Tonight’s Show’s best recurring segments. On Monday, along with Kevin Bacon, Fallon performed an unearthed “rare early version” of Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin'” and it was ‘haymazing’.
You see, for some reason, the early draft version had a prominent horse theme. Lyrics in the “early draft” version went a little like this:
She loves flowers/ And horses too/ She likes football/ But she really like horses.
She likes ponies/ But not as much as horses/ She likes horses much, much more.
Indeed.
While Bacon played Petty and Fallon starred as Jeff Lynne (the OG song’s co-writer), the pair neighed their way through the classic hit.
But if you thought it was only the chorus that included anything to do with horses, you’re mistaken. In the chorus, Jimmy gets in close and the two belt out:
And I’m free!/ Free horses!
Before you watch, below, you might want to know that you’ll be singing about horses all day.
