Hear ye, hear ye, there’s a pretty sweet position up for grabs over in the U.K. if you’re looking for work.
Officially we’re talking about the task of Housekeeping Assistant, although it’s not exactly any old house. It’s Buckingham bloody Palace, and the job does come with a few decent perks as well.
This from the official Royal Household site:
HospitalityBuckingham PalacePermanent£16,755 per annum plus 15% employer contribution pension scheme and benefits. This is a live-in position (for which there is a salary adjustment) with meals provided.Full time, any 5 days a week Monday – Sunday
So you get to pick your own days to work, lekker, and even though that pay packet looks a little light you’re living in an actual palace.
More about the job role:
This is no standard housekeeping role. You’ll work, and live, in stunning historic settings, ensuring that they’re presented to their best for colleagues, guests and, of course, the Royal Family.
Aiming for the highest standards, you’ll clean and care for interiors and items from carpets and furniture to historic vases and irreplaceable paintings.
You’ll take care of guests and support special events too. And, in an environment where development and training is commonplace, you’ll be able to grow your skills far beyond your immediate role…
Surely they wouldn’t miss one historic vase, would they? Oh, that’s me out the running then.
Here’s the kind of person they’re looking to fill the position with:
You clearly take care and pride in your work, and your keen attention to detail means you aim for the highest standards in all that you do.
Your excellent communication skills mean that you can adapt effectively to any occasion.
It’s a busy environment, but with good time management skills, you’re able to meet the demanding deadlines.
Your positive approach means you’ll be eager to get involved in a range of duties supporting the wider team. Above all, you will be eager to learn and develop your skills.
This is your opportunity to use your enthusiasm and passion to deliver the exceptional.
You will be rewarded with a comprehensive benefits package, including 33 days holiday (inclusive of Bank Holidays), a 15% employer contribution pension scheme (with the option for flexibility – to increase contributions or draw down as salary), all meals provided, training and development, as well as a range of recreational facilities. In addition, as this is a live-in role, you will be provided with accommodation, for which your salary will be adjusted.
Hey, if you don’t mind wiping up old people’s spittle this could be your calling.
Applications close on September 18, and in case you’ve got a palace (or a house) that needs cleaning we’ll give you a word of advice.
Do yourself a favour and check out Domestly, where you can arrange for a vetted cleaner to tidy your mess.
Each cleaner has a profile with reviews, they are allowed to set their own prices (half day and full day) and the booking process takes no more than a few minutes.
Full day if you’re rocking a palace, half day if you’re a mere mortal like most of us.
