Finally – A Robot That Can Climb Fences [Video]

A company has created a robot that can climb fences and, in an effort to research gait, they are asking for public help. You decide if you want one around the house.

First they come for our pizzas (HERE), and now this.

What you are about to see may be the most ridiculous robot video ever.

Ghost Robotics are selling a robot, although the price is currently unknown. You have to contact the company directly to get your hands on one, and their selling point is rather unusual.

You see, the Minitaur can run at a speed of up to four miles an hour (6.5 km/h), scale fences and bounce around (and has encoders that let it sense the ground and adapt to the terrain) – and the company wants you to conduct research.

Here’s the thing: Because the Minitaur can be programmed to “bound, pronk, walk, and trot”, the research you conduct will be focused on gait, the pattern of movement of the limbs during locomotion over a solid substrate.

To me, it just looks like a dog with extra tricks up its sleeve – especially when it tries to open the door.
