If you thought the wait for season seven of Game of Thrones was bad, then Baleka Mbete has a thing or two to teach you.
Yesterday she made the much-awaited #SecretBallot announcement, and many South Africans were glued to their screens awaiting her decision.
Of course the press conference started a little late, and of course there was a great deal of gabbing about anything and everything other than the actual ‘secret or not’ moment.
And then, after all the deliberation, the time arrived. Mbete prepared to deliver the goods, and was struck by a pretty ill-timed frog in the throat.
Seriously, you couldn’t make this stuff up. It’s like something out a bad episode of Idols, or a regular episode of the awful Idols SA.
That’s some nervous laughter from the gathered journalists, too:

Never a dull moment with South African politics.
Can’t say we saw that decision coming, but the realist in me tends to think that she only allowed the secret ballot because she knows the ANC MP’s will stick to the plan.
Still, always nice to set the cat amongst the pigeons.
