It’s one of my most favourite games to play when presented with Google’s homepage.
Start typing something with an end goal in mind – like “Where can I buy a MacBook Pro in Cape Town?” – and watch as Google attempts to predict what you’re going to write each step of the way:
Yeah, things got a little dark there.
But while those predictions are location-based, and only give you the four most common searches, Google recently released some global information on one particular search, reports The Telegraph:
“Recently, we noticed that ‘how to…’ searches have increased by more than 140% since 2004, and much of that search interest is directed towards how to ‘fix’ things—whether it’s a lightbulb, window, washing machine, or even the toilet,” Google’s data editor Simon Rogers explained.
With that, they provided the top 20 “how to” searches – showing just how difficult adult life has become:
Schoolboys across the country chuckle to themselves.
Wondering the answer to my original question about that MacBook Pro? Digicape, duh.
