When Harvey Weinstein was outed as human trash, a number of films produced by The Weinstein Company were shelved.
One of those films was The Current War which was first screened at the Toronto International Film Festival and then promptly disappeared.
Two years later, and it’s finally coming to theatres, which is great news for the legions of Benedict Cumberbatch fans out there.
(A fun game before we continue – ever played the Benedict Cumberbatch Name Generator game? Enjoy.)
Back to the movie, and Vulture with more:
Cumberbatch plays Thomas Edison, Nicholas Hoult is Nikola Tesla, and Michael Shannon is George Westinghouse in this charged-up drama about the fight to bring electricity into people’s homes. There’s backstabbing and sabotaging and bold proclamations of genius, and spoiler alert, it ends with electric power totally working out.
We’ll forgive the terrible pun in the title, but only because it stars Cumberbatch and his beautiful shark face.
Check it out:
The film will be in theatres in October 2019.
