Plenty has been written and said about the live-action remake of The Lion King.
Thankfully, that wait is almost over, with the movie set to hit cinemas on July 19.
I refuse to believe it can top the 1994 classic, but at the very least, a new generation of kids will get to enjoy the iconic tale.
Right, what other old movies can Disney flog for a quick buck? Enter 1998’s Mulan, which told the story of Disney’s first-ever Asian princess.
21 years later, and it’s live-action remake time, with this synopsis from Digital Spy:
It’s being directed by Niki Caro and written by Elizabeth Martin and Lauren Hynek.
Similar to the animated version, Mulan will tell the story of a young woman who disguises herself as a man in order to take the place of her elderly father in the military.
Mulan will be played by Chinese star Liu Yifei, who is very well-known in her native China as a famous actress and singer. She’s known for her roles in The Forbidden Kingdom…
Introducing the first teaser trailer:
It actually looks pretty well shot.
Mulan is slated for release on March 27 next year.
