As a student who didn’t have a car or access to a car, if I forgot something at home, I was on my own.
In the words of my 83-year-old grandmother, “tough sh*t, kid”.
Today some university students seem to have it a little easier. Undergrads are rolling up in expensive convertibles and in some cases, low-key getting their backpacks delivered via chopper.
News24 with some details about the latter, which took place on North-West University’s Vaal campus in Vanderbijlpark.
According to Ituh Mokhele, who posted a video of the incident on Twitter, an unknown student had forgotten his schoolbag at home and a short while later a helicopter landed at the university to drop it off.
In the video, a young man can be seen walking towards a chopper that had landed in the university’s parking lot.
This gives a whole new meaning to ‘helicopter parenting’:

Chilled.
“After watching the video I can confirm that the landing was on NWU’s campus in Vanderbijlpark. It was in an area in front of the student centre adjacent to the construction site of our new administration building,” said the university’s Willie du Plessis.
“At this stage, we don’t have any other information.”
