As we face up to the reality that working from home could be a very long-term thing, a few lessons are being learnt.

For a start, two pairs of tracksuit or pyjama pants might not cut it heading into winter.

I don’t care much for fashion, but I’m now seriously considering adding a few ‘wear around the house’ items of clothing to the mix.

There’s also the fact that a reliable, high-speed home internet connection is now more essential than ever, but it’s hard to know where to start when looking.

Thankfully, RSAWEB has a tool that allows you to see which providers operate in your area.

Head here, and then type your area in the box:

For illustrative purposes, I entered Vredehoek, Cape Town:

I’m then presented with options, the cheapest of which is an uncapped 10Mpbs line for R575 a month through Octotel.

Other providers RSAWEB works with include Openserve (starting from R595 for uncapped 10mpbs), LinkAfrica (also from R595 for uncapped 10mpbs), and Vumatel (from R645 for uncapped 10mpbs), although those vary by area, which you can check using the same tool.

There are also some great freebies and savings, depending on which package you sign up for:

RSAWEB is operational during the lockdown, so don’t stress on that front.

Gaming, streaming, working, downloading, scrolling aimlessly through social media for hours on end – yeah, you could use a decent home connection.
