Hi – big pickle fan over here.
Or am I actually a gherkin fan?
There’s a difference, which you can read about here, but that really doesn’t have anything to do with Seth Rogen’s new comedy, so I don’t know why we’re bothering to talk about it.
Titled An American Pickle, Rogen’s latest role sees him playing a 1920s immigrant to America, Herschel Greenbaum, who smashes a century-long slumber in a vat of pickle brine.
Upon awakening, he meets his own great-grandson, a computer coder named Ben (also played by Rogen), and the two find it understandably difficult to get on at first.
That’s enough to get you prepped for the trailer:
The movie, which is based on a New Yorker novella by Simon Rich and directed by Brandon Trost, will premiere on HBO Max on August 6.
With not a fart joke to be found, this one may well be worth a watch.
