While crime numbers took a brief dip during the hard lockdown, things seem to be returning to normal, with brazen criminals committing not only robberies, but murders in broad daylight, in the full view of witnesses.
In July alone, we’ve already brought to your attention, the security guard who was shot in Joburg after a fight with robbers at a petrol station, and the cash-in-transit security driver who was shot and wounded during a heist in Vanderbijlpark.
Now, as the month draws to a close, we have a run-of-the-mill hit – or at least, that’s what it looks like.
CCTV footage captured a fatal shooting in the parking lot of the Lakeside Mall in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, on Tuesday, July 28, reports The Citizen.
The suspects rolled up in a black VW, stopped in front of the victim’s car, and fired off a number of rounds.
The motive is still unknown.
A word of warning: the video below contains footage that could be upsetting to some viewers:
The man was declared dead in the parking lot, due to bullet wounds. The entire incident played out in fewer than 10 seconds.
SAPS in Richards Bay are currently investigating the incident.
