Is now the time to be buying a convertible Aston Martin?

    Your cash, your call.

I have very little interest in cars, having sold mine last year and used Uber since then, so you’ll have to bear with me if my enthusiasm levels aren’t through the roof on this one.

Over on Cars.co.za, there’s a listing for a 2007 Aston Martin Vantage V8 Vantage roadster N430, with the selling price given as R559 900.

Let’s call it R560 000, and it’s here that we’re backing your negotiating prowess. South Africa’s used car market is likely to be flooded in the coming months, due in large part to car rental companies offloading vehicles into the market, so use that as leverage.

They won’t be offloading Aston Martin Roadsters, but with some poking and prodding you can get that price down to a cool R500 000.

Less than the price of a ‘Baby Bugatti II’, at least.

Here are some pictures of your potential new Roadster:

    Pop the top down, boet!

Of course, how else are you going to cruise along the Atlantic Seaboard, with your seat pushed so far back that you’re basically horizontal?

    Some basics specs:

A 2007 model with just over 50 000 kilometres on the clock? Must have been a Sunday drive car.

Anyway, the rule of thumb when it comes to vehicle financing is R2 000 in monthly payments for every R100 000 in financing. Assuming you put nothing down, you’re looking at around R10 000 a month, and the Aston Martin is all yours.

    Congrats, you’re that person now.

Make sure you rev the engine really loudly just before cram into a tiny parking space, so everyone watches. Seems to be the ‘in thing’ for Cape Town convertible drivers.

You can find all the info on the car here.
