Anger boiled over in Norkem Mall in Kempton Park, Gauteng, yesterday, during a clash between security guards and EFF members.

On the fourth day of continued protest action against Clicks, with Julius Malema telling members and supporters to ready themselves to “attack”, and many stores across the country reporting damages, it’s alleged that “one of the EFF protesters at the Clicks Store was allegedly assaulted by mall security personnel.”

That’s according to SAPS Brigadier Mathapelo Peters, with TimesLIVE covering the story below:

“It is reported that a scuffle broke out between the protesters and mall security as security attempted to get the protesters to leave the mall. Police will investigate the allegations that a shot was fired during the scuffle as per a spent cartridge that was retrieved from the scene,” she added.

    No arrests have been made.

    A bystander filmed this footage:

    No injuries were reported.

Here’s another angle, obtained by the Kempton Express:

The Gauteng High Court granted Clicks an interdict against the EFF on Tuesday, reports News24:

According to the interdict, the EFF or its supporters may not intimidate and threaten employees of Clicks working at its shops or any of its operations; intimidate and threaten Clicks’ customers visiting its shops, or incite violence against the ordinary commercial operations of Clicks.

Port Elizabeth’s Walmer Park Shopping Centre also saw an ugly clash this week, after 52-year-old Diane Attwell pulled a gun on EFF members.

No charges were initially laid, but the EFF later laid a charge of pointing a firearm, with Attwell’s case postponed until November 6 for further investigation.
