It is the end of an era.

For many, the iMac Pro has been a faithful companion, keeping them ahead of the curb, and producing some of the best designs, graphics, and workflow productivity to ever grace the world.

Okay, I’m being dramatic, but I’m not wrong. It’s an excellent machine.

Unfortunately, it will soon be obsolete, as Apple continue to bring us bigger and better things in its quest to keep setting the bar for excellence in the field of personal computing devices.

I would take a bullet for my MacBook and it isn’t even the latest model.

We had some inkling that the iMac Pro was on its way out when the rumour mill started churning. But, per TechCrunch, Apple only recently confirmed our suspicions.

And, to be fair, it was a long time coming.

The space grey version of the iMac Pro was initially introduced in 2017, ahead of the company’s long-awaited revamp of the Mac Pro. At the time they were calling it a “love letter to developers”.

Since then, in keeping with Apple’s ethos, the iMac has been revamped and upgraded.

The final nail in the coffin for the old faithful Pro was the introduction of the Apple silicon-powered chips, which will be making their way into new models in the near future, including the iMac 2021.

We also need to face reality. The iMac Pro might have been discontinued but with everyone working remotely, it was time to upgrade your company’s devices anyway.

Digicape, South Africa’s largest independent Apple retailer, is currently offering a sweet deal that will give your employees the flexibility to do almost anything, from anywhere.

If you snap up the Apple MacBook Pro 13″ Touch Bar and a pair of Apple Airpods 2 in a charging case you’ll save R2 699.

Alternatively, you can pay in monthly instalments, starting from R1 369 a month.

Performance is everything, and in these trying times, connectivity is key to keeping operations up and running, and your employees at the top of their game.

RIP, iMac Pro – it has been an honour.
