Hey, would you look at that?

    It’s Friday.

The sun is out (at least around the Cape Town CBD), the weekend is almost upon us, and Jacob Zuma has lost his bid in the Pietermaritzburg high court for a stay of the warrant of execution for his arrest.

Three reasons to celebrate, and let’s begin the weekend wind down with four trailers for your perusal.

That’s aside from Succession (season three is coming), and The Sopranos’ prequel film, The Many Saints of Newark.

First up is Jolt, which The Verge describes as follows:

This trailer has Kate Beckinsale kicking things and beating people up but she isn’t a vampire; instead she has a rare disorder that makes her rage out if she doesn’t get regular shock treatments from Stanley Tucci.

Naturally she meets a guy who doesn’t freak out at her shocking condition (sorry) and of course he gets killed and the cops think she did it so then she has to do some revenge-kicking.

Jolt also stars Bobby Cannavale, Laverne Cox, and Susan Sarandon:

The film comes to Amazon Prime Video on July 23.

I’m about to show my age, but can I hear it for the He-Man fans out there? No, just me?

Tough crowd, but we’re going to talk about Masters of the Universe: Revelation anyway:

We got a teaser of the Kevin Smith revival of He-Man’s adventures in June, and now we get the full trailer. It’s not a retelling of the He-Man story, but rather picks up where the original TV show concluded in 1985.

Chris Wood, Mark Hamill, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Lena Headley, and Mark Hamill (as Skeletor) voice characters in Masters of the Universe, which debuts on Netflix July 23rd.

Sarah Michelle Gellar – there’s another throwback to days of old:

The series will be released in two parts, with the first part debuting on Netflix on July 23.

For the action fans, here comes Beckett:

An American tourist vacationing in Greece gets into a car accident, and when he wakes up, he’s embroiled in a conspiracy and people are shooting at him.

Mr. Beckett does not appear to have the same skill set as Jason Bourne, however, which will probably make things a bit more difficult as he tries to figure out what the hell is going on and attempts to get to the US Embassy.

For his sake, I hope he at least has some of the skills of Liam Neeson:

Keep an eye out for that one, which hits Netflix on August 13.

To finish, one that will have the more conspiratorially minded chomping at the bit.

More on Top Secret UFO Projects: Declassified, via Collider:

The series will explore the idea that aliens exist among us and that this knowledge has been covered up by the government for years…

Netflix has other documentaries available to stream that ponder the existence of aliens, but this docuseries is one of the first original projects from the streamer to explore extraterrestrial life in such extensive detail…

Based on the very revealing trailer, it seems as though Top Secret UFO Projects: Declassified may change society’s viewpoints on the existence of alien life for good.

I doubt that, and it seems like someone is conflating the existence of UFOs with the existence of aliens.

But hey, let’s see the trailer anyway:

The series will start streaming on Netflix from August 3.

Whatever you’re watching this weekend, enjoy.
