Netflix releases new content quicker than most of us can say, “I want something new to watch on Netflix.”

This is good because nobody wants to go wanting.

This week, the big streamer is releasing a solid 23 new films to choose from, per Forbes, and they all look pretty decent.

The disclaimer is that Forbes is covering US Netflix, which can often differ slightly from South African Netflix release dates, but it’s worth a look anyway as there will be a major overlap.

Three of the more interesting picks include some female-led action, five strangers stumbling into classic horror, and a documentary that explores how women have been underrepresented and misrepresented in the entertainment industry.

    First up, This Changes Everything:

This timeous documentary dives deep into the gender disparity in Hollywood, with accounts from well-known actors, executives, and artists in the industry.

More women in and around the entertainment industry are speaking up and calling for change.

It’s as if actresses Karen Gillan, Lena Headey, Carla Gugino, and Michelle Yeoh heard the call to action, as Gunpowder Milkshake puts all these females in the lead.

In this film, the team of deadly female assassins work together to dismantle an evil crime syndicate in order to defend an eight-year-old girl, not without a splash of neon and a few milkshake stops, though.

We’re living for these high-stakes moments:

I might actually be transformed into an action movie fan after seeing that.

This Changes Everything and Gunpowder Milkshake have yet to be released on Netflix South Africa, but hang in there and keep an eye out.

We’ll leave you with A Classic Horror Story.

Centred on five people who crash into a tree while on a trip (classic), they wake up to find themselves in a mysterious forest and a strange house (also, classic).

    Except…

This one is out on Netflix South Africa already, so there’s nothing stopping you from watching it tonight.
