We Found The Perfect Drink For Those Who Don’t Buy Into Spring Day

In South Africa, September 1 is known as Spring Day.

That’s not to say everybody is in favour of that date being heralded as the beginning of spring.

It doesn’t help that for the past two years, there’s been snow on Table Mountain in late August, and the Matroosberg mountain range was totally blanketed at the same time.

Look at that tractor – intense.

Some would argue the wildflowers bursting into bloom up the West Coast offsets that, but I’m not buying it.

The long-winded point I’m making is that even though we are post-Spring Day, we are still due a cold snap or two before it is long days of beach weather.

In light of that, it pays to have a wintery cocktail recipe prepped and ready alongside the more summery ones.

Bust out the Henny (come on, you know that’s short for Hennessy) and add a little “skop” to your drink to go with the gas heater and the warm blanket.

Your ingredients:

  • Fitch & Leedes Ginger Ale
  • 50ml Hennessy
  • 60ml strong peach tea, cooled
  • Half a peach, sliced

To prepare, simply combine the Hennessy and the strongly brewed peach tea in a glass and stir.

Then fill the glass with ice and peach slices, and top up with Fitch & Leedes Ginger Ale.

How good does this look, as you settle in for the evening and scour Netflix for something to watch?

Rumour has it the recipe also works nicely with quality brandy.

Whichever quality spirit you choose to use, you’ll be doing it justice when using Fitch & Leedes’ range of bespoke mixers.

They’re made with quadruple filtered water for ultimate purity, and come delicately carbonated, superbly balanced, and infused with the world’s finest flavours.

A throwback to an era when things were still made with the utmost care and craftsmanship, it’s fitting that the mixers, inspired by the travels of Ralph Fitch and William Leedes, are now available on five different continents.

Proudly South African, and off exploring the world.

Spring or no spring, we’ll drink to that.
