Elon Musk lives a nomadic lifestyle, not owning a home and leading the charge in the ‘homeless billionaires’ club.

He can’t stay at friends’ houses every night, though, so thank goodness he has a private jet.

As the world’s wealthiest person, Musk’s whole thing is less about personal consumption (no yacht, home, or vacations) and more about the hustle.

He’s also reportedly very close to owning Twitter, with reports suggesting the social media site will accept his offer to buy the company outright.

Per PEOPLE, Musk said in a conversation with TED head Chris Anderson that the plane is the only exception to his personal pleasures because otherwise, he would  “have less hours to work”.

Made in 2015, Musk acquired Gulfstream’s flagship plane, the G650ER, in 2016:

The G650ER seems to be the chosen plane of the megarich, with owners also including Jeff Bezos and Cristiano Ronaldo, reported Business Insider.

Musk actually has two planes, including the Dassault Falcon 900B, which he bought in 2004. The price tag for the G650ER starts at $66,5 million, which is roughly R1 billion.

Meanwhile, the cost to operate the jet also boggles the mind.

At least records from 2018 show that Musk used it extensively:

Musk spent $700,000 on his private jet in 2018 alone, flying around the US, Europe, and Asia, according to flight records obtained by the Washington Post.

In 2018, Musk flew on over 250 flights, logging more than 150,000 miles on the plane, per the Post.

The 30-metre G650ER is customised inside, with a forward galley and four living areas with 10 seats:

The galley also has two storage compartments, a microwave, and a convection oven, the virtual tour shows. A touchscreen, which controls parts of the plane, is built into the front wall of the galley.

There are 12 oval windows in the forward cabin, which Gulfstream says are the largest in aviation.

The seats have a footrest and can be partially reclined, the virtual tour shows. The seats can also be tilted to an angle to face each other or converted into beds.

The jet typically has two television screens in the main cabin — one built into the front of the galley, and another placed in the middle of two windows.

Foldable tables provide space for a lavish dining area:

The jet comes with two bathrooms, one in the galley and the other in the VIP cabin:

Although there are no showers, so I guess Musk does need to freeload on his friends a little.
