The first thing I do when I (infrequently) get a new iPhone is to make sure it has a screen cover to protect against cracking as well as an overall cover.

Prevention is better than cure, and in this case, also cheaper.

Sadly, no matter how much we do our best to ensure that nothing happens to our tech goodies, something will eventually go wrong.

We’ve all been there – cats strolling across the desk and knocking liquid onto the MacBook keyboard, a phone dropped down the side of the bed, an iPad in the hands of a toddler.

Insurance is great for peace of mind when it comes to health, car, household, and so on. However, if you want to insure a single item, or just a few, it can be a bit of a hack.

Digicape, South Africa’s largest independent Apple retailer, has come up with a great solution. inSure.d is a fully comprehensive insurance package specifically developed to cover your Apple devices in the event of theft, damage, or loss.

    Here’s how it works:

    • You are able to add any item to insurance cover – brand new or already owned (irrespective of the age or where it is bought from).
    • Items that are not new will require an assessment from Digicape’s technical team for any existing issues.
    • Should there be existing damage to the item, then insurance cover may be issued noting the exclusion of the pre-existing condition.

The assessment by the Digicape team is free of charge and can be done at their Roeland Street or Pinelands locations.

Cover is immediate, whether done online or in-store, so you can have peace of mind without having to wait around.

You can find all of the relevant information, like excess structures and claims procedures, via the Digicape inSure.d page.
