I’ve heard of rubbing whiskey onto the gums of infants to help them with their teething woes, but giving a full shot of liquor to a child is on a whole other level.

A video has been doing the rounds, showing a woman, presumably the mother, giving the young’un a bottle cap of what appears to be vodka to knock back.

Two adults were promptly arrested on charges of child abuse, with neighbours apparently calling in with concern.

The New York Post reported that the sordid situation occurred in June in Dover, in the county of Kent, with local police confirming that “actions were taken to safeguard those involved”.

    Here’s the incriminating footage:

Police said that they went to the property following reports of a disturbance:

“Upon attending, officers were made aware of concerns for a child at an address in the area,” said a spokesperson for the force, adding that the parents have been arrested for child abuse.

But they have since been let off on bail, and the child is back in their arms.

At least a Kent County Council spokesperson said that “social services are aware of this and have taken appropriate action”.

An anonymous source lamented how sad the situation was, mentioning that they’d posted about the incident on Facebook to bring awareness, but the posts kept getting removed.

Hopefully, these parents have now been set straight.
