The nice thing about Netflix's new rom-com featuring Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher is that it is loved-up but also kind of not.

A cheesy rom-com might be just the thing you need to prepare for this upcoming Valentine’s Day.

Or otherwise, there’s also the option of purchasing a cockroach from this US zoo and watching it get fed to one of the encaged animals.

Then again, the nice thing about Netflix’s new flick featuring Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher is that it is loved-up but also kind of not.

So you can get your romance fill, without going completely and unashamedly heart-eyed. It’s a safe zone.

The film Your Place or Mine stars two former lovers turned best friends Debbie (Witherspoon) and Peter (Kutcher) who thrive in their opposing comfort zones: hers in Los Angeles with strict routines caring for her son as a single mom, his in New York with the ever-changing day-to-day life, notes PEOPLE.

The two decide to switch lives for a week, each staying in the other’s home, were they “discover what they think they want might not be what they really need,” per a synopsis.

Trailer time:

Despite director Aline Brosh McKenna, who wrote the Devil Wears Prada and 27 Dresses, being behind this film, it didn’t receive the most glowing reviews.
Variety reviewed it as a “singularly chintzy Netflix rom-com even if you already think of Netflix rom-coms as chintzy” adding that it is basically two bad movies in one:

Aline Brosh McKenna’s film is “When Harry Met Sally” meets “The Holiday” meets a cookie cutter.

I mean, that doesn’t sound like hell. It actually sounds like the perfect Valentine’s silly to abate any feelings of wanting to be wanted on the one day of the year when everyone is wanting.

Whatever, give it a watch. Your Place or Mine is out on Netflix now.
