A concerning amount of infectious diseases and improperly stored biohazard materials were discovered in a dodgy warehouse in Fresno, California this week.

Among the items found in the illegal lab were one thousand bioengineered mice, of which about two hundred were dead and the rest carrying an assortment of contagious infections.

Among the worrying amount of ill mice, the search team uncovered thirty fridges and freezers in various states of disrepair.

On further inspection, disease samples turned up information showing that herpes, coronavirus, E. Coli and malaria were all identified in the sketchy lab.

It’s no surprise that the live mice found were provided a merciful death via euthanasia by the officials handling the situation. It’s a disturbing thought to think of what could have happened if one of the little critters had managed to sneak out to the public.

An official from the city, Nicole Zieba, admitted to being thrown off guard by the discovery:

“This is an unusual situation. I’ve been in government for 25 years. I’ve never seen anything like this.”

It’s hard not to think back to the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic when there was plenty of talk over illegal lab work concerning diseases, but thankfully, as of 7 July 2023, all biohazard materials discovered at the illegal California lab have all been confirmed as destroyed.

Given the unsettling nature of the findings, US public health officials have chosen to not provide comment. All we can say is rest in peace to the tiny rodents and thank our lucky stars that the situation is officially under control.

Let’s leave the lab work to the professionals, people. And stop pointing fingers at Wuhan.
