A video is doing the rounds of the moment a $140 million megayacht owned by Steve Jobs’ widow smashed into another monster vessel owned by a Mexican telecom tycoon.
Venus, the Steve Jobs yacht got in an accident in Naples with Lady Moura, a luxury vessel owned by Mexican billionaire Ricardo Salinas Pliego.
The 78-metre Venus, commissioned by the late Apple founder and designed by Philippe Starck, is now owned by Laurene Powell Jobs.
The two luxury liners, which cost a combined $265 million, slammed into each other after a vicious gust of wind off the Italian coast of Naples put them on a collision course.
Salinas, who was vacationing in the Mediterranean, posted a video on X showing Venus slowly drifting towards his yacht while his crew frantically yelled and whistled trying to prevent the high-value crash.
“I’d like to know what the captain and crew were doing that they didn’t see a yacht the size of mine in front of them,” Salinas wrote.

The Daily Mail reports that although both vessels were anchored, it did little to stop them from careening into each other as high winds were heard over the microphone in the footage.
The two yachts came into contact July 22nd after a sudden burst of wind that hit 55 knots after the breeze suddenly picked up, a source for the crew of the Venus told DailyMail.com.
Without the captain and crew’s knowledge, the $125 million Lady Moura had dropped anchor with twice the amount of chain anticipated, according to the crew of the Venus.
As the wind intensified, neither vessel budged. Yet, the disparity in anchor chain lengths led to a catastrophic collision between the two majestic ships—an impact that, according to Salinas, will result in a staggering financial blow.
He then made a pitch for one of his many companies, elektra.mx, urging people to buy Apple products to help Jobs’ widow, Laurene, pay for the “inconvenience”, per TechCentral.
“It will take a lot of polish to get that scratch out,” Elektra quickly replied on X, with a link to its online shop.
Jobs worked for years on the Venus design while already stricken by cancer, according to a 2014 Starck interview.
Powell Jobs inherited the sleek boat, named after the Roman goddess of beauty, made of aluminium and featuring a minimalist design that includes 40-foot ceilings and six identically sized bedrooms.
