Sneering like a hyena from his luxurious hideout in Malawi, self-proclaimed ‘prophet’ Shepherd Bushiri took time away from fleecing the flock to poke fun at his rival, Pastor “Mboro” Motsoeneng, over the latter’s recent run-in with the law.
There is no honour among pastors it seems as Bushiri says he feels no pity for the controversial pastor, who remains behind bars after ranting into Matshidiso Primary School in Katlehong and threatening teachers with pangas.
Following the madness at the school, the panga-wielding pastor’s Incredible Happenings Church was burnt to ashes on Tuesday after a group of children and community members went there to protest against Motsoeneng. You might say it was incredible what happened, but it was probably just a predictable happening after the pastor’s shenanigans made headlines everywhere.
The other man of God (he who prefers private jets over pangas) took to social media to express his satisfaction with Motsoeneng’s troubles.
“After fighting me in the name of fighting for South Africans, he is now fighting the same South Africans with guns and knives. You cannot fight an innocent man because you think he is a threat to your interests and have your things move well.”
Yeah, we also had to read it over twice to figure out what the prophet was on about. Bushiri seems to be miffed at Mboro for being “instrumental” in his and his wife, Prophetess Mary’s, downfall, saying that Motsoeneng “hunted them, day and night” in South Africa after being charged with corruption in 2020.
“What a shame. Now, South Africans have seen the state of the so-called ‘anti-Bushiri activist’ with the most famous movement: ‘Bushiri must go home’. I could not stay in that country with such people after me. Imagine what would happen if I were still there. Anyway, we wish him a quick mental recovery on this side of Malawi.”
Bushiri used to lead the Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) until he and his wife were arrested in 2020 on charges of money laundering, fraud and theft. At the time, his rival led the ‘Panzi Bushiri’ charge.
Bushiri skipped the country and fled to Malawi the moment he was released on bail, and now from hence, he is casting his stones at the competition. No turning the other cheek brothers and sisters, only glee and spite will do.
Forgiveness and humility seem to have no place in the shepherd’s dogma, with money still being the guiding light. This is clear as a church bell looking at his Facebook page, which declared this year as “The Year of Wealth Transfer”.
Instead of “corruption accused and bail jumper”, Prophet Bushiri now prefers “Leader and founder of the Jesus Nation Church and Goshen Investments”. Goshen Investments is likely the vessel through which the wealth transfer will be happening. God be with his 5.1 million followers.
You gotta love the roll of Benjamins and the circa 1980s attire, replete with sash and medals. A cross or ray of heavenly light might have been nice, but there are no other gods here but money and pride.
Pastor Mboro once called the fight against the Bushiris “a spiritual war” and asked for “God’s divine intervention”. It would appear God has intervened in his case at least.
