In a horrifying scene straight out of Rivonia, Gauteng cops are hot on the heels of a motorist who turned a petty street squabble into a full-blown horror show, leaving one man dead and the community shell-shocked.

The showdown went down on April 5, 2025, in the usually upmarket streets of Rivonia, Sandton – but there was nothing fancy about the way it ended. A heated argument escalated into pure carnage, with the victim being mowed down like roadkill, not once, but multiple times.

Police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said via IOL that officers rocked up after a call came through, only to find a man lying crumpled on the roadside, his body battered from head to toe.

“The paramedics declared him dead on the scene. According to information at hand, the victim reportedly argued with the shop owner and allegedly hit the shop owner’s vehicle with a brick, breaking the windscreen. The shop owner reportedly came out and drove over his body several times before fleeing the scene,” said Nevhuhulwi.

And because nothing terrible ever happens quietly these days, the whole thing was caught on camera. The 38-second clip has already made the rounds online, showing onlookers frozen in stunned silence as the driver coolly turned a human being into roadkill.

Amid the chaos, a heart-wrenching soundtrack: the desperate, anguished wails of a woman trying to stop the madness – her pleas falling on deaf ears as the driver just kept going.

This video is not for sensitive viewers.

Colonel Nevhuhulwi confirmed that the case is officially being treated as murder, with detectives trying to piece together how a squabble over a broken windscreen spiralled into cold-blooded execution.

“No one has been arrested as yet. All leads to trace the suspect are being followed,” she said.

For now, the streets of Rivonia are left with more questions than answers and a killer still in the wind.
