Time to find out if you’ve named your bundle of joy something gloriously original, or if you accidentally picked the Pumpkin Spice Latte of baby names.

Every year, the Social Security Administration drops its hotly anticipated list of the top 1,000 baby names in the U.S., and the 2024 rankings are officially in.

Some names came in swinging, while others faded into the void of yesteryear.

The girls’ name Ailany (meaning ‘chief’ or ‘heavens’) absolutely skyrocketed, blasting from No. 855 in 2023 to a jaw-dropping No. 101 this year. That’s not a name climb, it’s a name glow-up.

Not to be outdone, Truce (yes, like “let’s not fight”) jumped from deep space – No. 12,109 – to a respectable No. 991 on the boys’ chart. Peace never looked so cool.

Close behind, Aylani (basically Ailany’s twin with a spelling plot twist) also made moves, sliding into No. 855 from just outside the top 1,000. Meanwhile, Colsen (meaning ‘son of Col’—whoever he is) leapt from No. 1835 to No. 631.

And the names still sitting comfortably on the baby-name throne? For girls, it’s the timeless duo of Olivia and Emma. For boys, Liam and Noah continue to reign like the name-brand royalty they are.
