Internet Loses It Over AI Humanoid Going Haywire And Attacking Workers In Chinese Factory [Video]

In a video that feels straight out of Black Mirror’s bargain bin, a humanoid robot was caught on camera throwing hands, literally, at workers in a shadowy Chinese factory.

“This is what the machine uprising might look like: a video is going viral online showing a robot going berserk during testing,” Belarusian TV outlet Nexta posted alongside the chaos on X.

In the clip, the robot is dangling awkwardly from a crane like it’s just been yanked out of robo-detention. Then it starts flailing its limbs like it’s trying to swat flies, or pesky programmers.

A nearby computer goes flying, and two workers narrowly avoid a surprise uppercut from their twitchy colleague, made of metal.

One poor oke had to tiptoe behind the robot and yank its stand back like he was disabling a possessed marionette. Brave? Dumb? Maybe both. Either way, he gets credit for not running for the hills.

Then, naturally, the internet lost its mind.

“Artificial intelligence is an orderly developing disaster,” someone declared on X, probably while Googling “how to fight a robot with a broom.”

Another summed it up best: the bot “went full terminator.”

Someone else, clearly not sleeping tonight, warned that these machines are “definitely the path to total human destruction.”

And in true internet fashion, one legend piped up with, “Everybody was Kung Fu Fighting.” Because of course they did.

Meanwhile, Nvidia, makers of the robot’s robot cousins, tried to calm the collective anxiety attack. In a post on their website, they explained that robots like these are “designed to work alongside humans to augment productivity.” Cute.

These bots, they say, can be trained to do everything from loading boxes to assisting in healthcare and customer service. You know, just your standard apocalypse starter kit.

However, Nvidia admits there’s a catch: something they call “degrees of freedom,” which sounds suspiciously like robot code for “we might lose control sometimes.”

“[Humanoid robots] operate with greater dexterity and more human-like movements, letting them perform a wider range of tasks and adapt to various environments,” the post reads. “However, this requires coordination across complex mechanical and control systems.”

Translation: don’t be surprised if they spaz out once in a while.

They also stress that when you’re playing house with humanoid robots, safety is a big deal, especially when it comes to sensors, human-machine teamwork, and AI.

That last bit is key. According to Nvidia, it’s vital “to check that the algorithms that humanoids rely on avoid misinterpretations and don’t introduce new risks.”

Let’s hope so. Because the only thing worse than a robot uprising… is a misunderstood robot uprising.
