That’s because the first thing that headhunted potential employees ask themselves is, “Is this company a sinking ship?”
And SA Rugby, the company, is a sinking ship.
Dick Muir, Gary Gold, you guys are as good as fired. Sorry chaps. Your boss, Oregan Hoskins, when asked explicitly whether there would be any changes made to the Springbok rugby team management, he was quoted as saying, “I’m not going to answer that, sorry.”
In a line of work where management generally makes a point of backing every last minion, an “I’m not going to answer that, sorry” means you’re fired.
Gone.
So every living organism with the powers of perception will not be surprised to learn that P Divvy is scrambling to find suitable candidates to fill then roles of Gold and Muir before the commencement of the End of year Tour.
Uno problemo.
Potential candidates for the vacant jobs also have powers of perception, despite the contrary impression created by post-match speeches. And they probably suspect that given the current management HR policy, they’ll be hired on a “last in, first out” basis, while P Div has free reign to coach badly and enjoy protection.
Frans Ludeke and Alistair Coetzee have both turned down offers from P Div for the job.
Sorry, Pete Snor. No one likes to be a scapegoat.
