Photographer Jill Greenberg managed to capture these children’s emotions by giving them candy and then taking it away from them. The jury is still out on whether Greenberg’s tactics are a little ‘sadistic’. According to Emeritus Professor of child development at the University of South Africa, Frida Briggs:
It did no long-term damage to the children.
Maybe not the most ethically sound practice, but the children’s parents were present when these pictures of their children were taken.
