Lottery Winner Leaves A R94,000 Tip At Diner In British Columbia, Canada

Lottery winner Robert Erb won R235 million and has shared some of his winnings with Clifford Luther, owner of a diner in British Columbia, Canada. Luther had told Erb that his daughter had been recently diagnosed with cancer, but he didn't expect such a large tip.

In Novemeber Robert Erb won $25 million (R235 million) in the Canadian lottery. While en route to bury his father’s ashes Erb made a stop at the Old West Express diner in Saskatchewan in British Columbia, Canada. A seemingly normal meal led to Erb leaving a large tip.

After talking to the owner of the diner Clifford Luther, Erb learnt that Luther’s daughter had recently been diagnosed with cancer. Luther’s news hit home for Erb as he had lost his son four-and-a-half years ago. A few days later Erb returned to the diner for another meal and that is when he left a generous cheque of $10,000.

Luther said:

He asked for a pen and said: ‘Here, you can just take the bill out of that. It just shows how good people can be, you know, how he had good fortune and he was able to pass it on and I believe he’s a very generous man. It’s really lifted my spirits. There are just some really caring people out there.
