Woman Misses Office Lottery Pool The Week They Win The R420 Million Jackpot – Gets Nothing

A British woman who is part of a lottery syndicate at work lost out on millions as she was off sick from work with morning sickness. But she wants her share of the millions and has hired a solicitor.

Louise Whitby was part of a lottery syndicate at work. But the day Whitby was off sick from work with morning sickness she missed out on her piece of a £28million (R422 million) EuroMillions jackpot.

Whitby’s 10 colleagues from A4e recruiting firm that won millions did not show up to work after the winning numbers had been announced on Tuesday.

But Whitby wants her share of the millions. She had enlisted the help of a solicitor in an attempt to claim her portion of the EuroMillions. She had been part of the syndicate for two years and paid in her £2 weekly. But when she asked to pay in her share for the Tuesday pot, the pregnant Whitby was refused.

Whitby said:

That money will never buy them happiness. I considered them my friends, but I can never speak to them again. I’ve paid into that syndicate every week for the past two years, but last week I was off work with morning sickness.

When I came back in this week, I said I still wanted to pay in, but they said I should just buy some lucky dips with the money instead. Now they’ve won it, they’ve said I can’t have a penny – it’s unbelievable.

I was away because I’m pregnant with my first child, it doesn’t get worse than that. I don’t think I can face working there ever again.
