Russian president and sports fanatic Vladimir Putin put some critics in their place when the Russian team for the World University Games came under criticism for having too many Olympic-level athletes competing in a competition restricted to students.

The recent World University Games competition held in the city of Kazan from 6-17 July 2013 was dominated by Russia. For their efforts, Russian athletes received an impressive 292 medals. Of those, 155 were gold, and they also secured a new world record while they were at it. But the Russian team has been critisised for having Olympians partake in a competition that is restricted for students.

Russian president and avid sports fan Vladimir Putin responded to complaints regarding the use of Olympic-level athletes. During a meeting with those athletes who competed in the competition, Putin said:

I’d like to advise them to take up sport themselves, and if they have any health issues to go see a doctor.

At the end of the day, maybe they should try some Viagra and then life would get better, would reveal some of its vivid and beautiful sides, and they would see the future.

Vlad never stops wowing us.
