Spud star, Troye Sivan has come out in a heartfelt video posted to his YouTube account yesterday. The video has already racked up over 110,000 views.
Sivan credited coming out video confessionals posted by other YouTubers with being able to feel comfortable with his own sexuality.
Sivan hoped that his own coming out video would serve as a source of comfort and encouragement for young gay teens.
It’s okay, and there’s people out there living happy, healthy lives. And they’re gay. And they happen to be gay as well. Life is awesome… My message is that it can be good right from the start. You can have a completely smooth sail out of the closet.
Describing the moment he came out to his father in 2010, Sivan said, “I felt a literal, physical, locking of my throat, and I couldn’t speak. ”
Troy has disabled embedding of the video, but you can watch it right here.
