Free unlimited public WiFi is now available at St Andrew’s Square on the border of De Waterkant and Green Point. If you’re wondering where that is, it’s the small park next to the Church on the corner of Somerset and Chiappini.
We have the Green Point City Improvement District (GPCID) and the City of Cape Town to thank for getting the project up and running.
The Wi-Fi service is unlimited and users simply select “GreenPointCID- FreeWi-Fi” when they are within the effective zone.
The service in Green Point mirrors a similar project in the Company Gardens and a pilot project in Khayelitsha and Mitchell’s Plain on the Cape Flats.
No doubt the local coffee establishments will be thanking their lucky stars for the launch of the service, which should increase traffic to their order counter, and remove the burden of providing WiFi to their unemployed freelance customers.
