Three Bolivians are in police custody after their classic plane-to-jungle-drug-drop went awry. How did it go awry? The chaps dropping $1 million in mixed denominations to their colleagues below overshot their mark somewhat, simultaneously losing their cash, and alerting local authorities to the presence of gangsters in the jungle.
The cash monies were wrapped in a seal marked with a stamp from a Paraguayan bank, leading authorities to believe that the attempted drop was executed by a drug network with ties to multiple countries. Authorities suspect that the dirty money would have been used to establish a cocaine-manufacturing plant, or multiple front businesses for the laundering of cocaine cash.
Bolivia is the third highest producer of Columbian Marching Powder in the world.
