Maybe it’s the cool sea breeze, the mountain with its tablecloth of clouds, or just the Cape Town attitude – we don’t know – but Capetonians live longer than Tshwane residents – fact. According to the report on mortality and causes of death for 2011 by Statistics South Africa (Stats SA), Cape Town residents have a longer life span.
The 2011 report took some time to be released, but it shows that:
- Men living in Cape Town live on average to 54, Tshwane males only live to 52.
- Cape Town females live up to 64, while in Tshwane women live on average to 56.
The leading cause of death in the country was found to be TB, responsible for 12% of deaths among males and 10% in women.
