Ultimately, the deal marks Apple’s desire to control and carefully package how we listen to music – be it via streaming, downloading or through premium headphones. And the $3 billion is surely music to Dre’s ears.
With the new acquisition Apple has the power to up their game with their competition such as Spotify and Pandora. Neither of these actually work in SA though so it will remain to be seen what kind of impact this buy-out will have for us locally.
