Okay, maybe it is not that bad, but this guy is in some serious shit.
Whilst being a guard at Buckingham Palace must be a real achievement and honour, walking back and fourth for hours cannot be all that exhilarating (unless you’re there on the day of an alien invasion).
This guy needed to curb his boredom and did so rather cleverly, adding in pirouettes and slow motion marching to his regular marching routine, and now he is in super big trouble. Don’t worry, it’s not the guillotine.
“He is there to guard Buckingham Palace not provide horseplay for tourists.”
Unfortunately for him, the army does not approve of his antics, and he will “likely face confinement to the barracks or see his pay docked”.
The shifts last two hours each (when you can then watch the changing of the guard and be a fully committed tourist) and have strict rules: “You may not eat, sleep, smoke, stand easy, sit or lie down during your tour of duty”.
