Woman Rejects R11 Billion Divorce Cheque

It's nauseating to think of all the things one could do with R11 billion. It's even more nauseating to think that there are people that sick in the head to turn that amount of money down.

Remember when you had that awkward breakup and your ex-missus demanded her kettle, non-stick pan and shower rack back? Well, this divorce settlement is taking things to the next level.

It turns out Sue Ann Arnall, who is involved in a bitter divorce with oil magnate Harold Hamm, has rejected his offer of a handwritten cheque for $974,8 million. Time reports she rejected the request because a billion dollars is just not enough:

Arnall, who has taken her maiden name after the divorce, appealed a judge’s ruling to offer her nearly $1 billion in their divorce because it pales in comparison to the $18 billion fortune Hamm has amassed through oil drilling company Continental Resources .

We don’t want to tell Sue how to run her affairs, but the mind boggles what one could do with R11 billion. Office favourites include never working again, buying Nkandla and sending Justin Bieber to the moon (one way).

On that note, you should be aware that tomorrow’s US Mega Millions lottery jackpot is over R2 billion ($221 million) and you can buy tickets from anywhere in the world. One question if you’re thinking about it – why wouldn’t you? Click here.
