The Cape Town Parliamentary precinct was defaced by some cheeky graffiti artists yesterday who sprayed the words ‘Zuma makes me wet’ on one of the outer walls – or was it all a Photoshop hoax?
The answer to the above question depends on who you ask with News24 saying that the picture, having gone viral online and become the source of much derision for JZ, was the work of some creatives behind a desk:
[It] appears to have been a Photoshopped hoax…When approached for comment, parliamentary spokesperson Luzuko Jacobs assembled the police and inspected the perimeter, but said he could not find the offensive scrawl.
“[There is] absolutely no evidence of such tasteless act of vandalism on the front wall,” said Jacobs.
Speaking on behalf of Cape Town mayor Patricia de Lille’s office, Pierrinne Leukes said city officials did not clean the wall. “When our people got there today it was gone,” she said.
It’s a different approach on IOL where it is claimed passing motorists had themselves a good giggle at the message that could be seen clearly by anyone walking past the Plein Street side of Parliament:
A few people even stood next to the graffiti to snap a picture and posted it on Twitter…
DA Chief whip John Steenhuisen told the Daily Voice it was completely unacceptable for people to vandalise Parliament: “If someone is disappointed with the President there are other ways of expressing themselves… defacing the centre of debate is not one of them…
“We will look at security footage to see if the perpetrator can be identified.”
Anyone out there happen to stroll past yesterday and snap a picture with the message? We’re pretty keen to know the real story behind this one, don’t be shy now.
