When you sit atop the food chain life must be pretty grand. Sure lions have to worry about tuberculosis, hyenas and dentists but aside from that they have it good.
Things aren’t as swell for Kruger National Park’s impala population, life constantly fraught with danger at every turn. This particular antelope must have been pretty pleased with itself after escaping from a pride of lions and finding refuge in a muddy part of a river.
Things took a turn for the worse, however, when a hippo waded over and decided to finish the job the lions could not.
Unlucky impala, ten out of ten for effort from our side.
