Yes, you read that correctly. The founder of Facebook’s founder is putting it out there. I didn’t believe it at first either as I’m sure money isn’t a big issue in the Zuckerberg household. Anyway, it’s more the manner in which the claiming happened that is important here guys. This is rather awesome.
In a letter soliciting new business and addressed to “Dear Neighbor”, the family dentist FaceDaddy, otherwise known as Edward J. Zuckerberg, takes his time before letting everyone know that he is in fact the father of Mark Zuckerberg – just in case they had any doubts. The first few paragraphs of his letter are extremely reassuring in that you feel genuinely welcome at the surgery. I was really feeling his vibe.
But Ed doesn’t just drop the bomb. He let’s us know that he’s fairly important with subtle mentions of “a large, 155 gallon salt water aquarium built right into the wall”, in reference to his practise. That’s almost 587 litres! Also available to surgery patrons are iPods with preloaded tunes, nitrous oxide (fine) and LCD monitors which will display dentistry related educational videos. Because it’s important that you watch torture before, during and after you experience torture.
The fourth paragraph is where it gets very good. Using bold type WITH italics (no capitals), Zuckerberg senior drops his bomb: “I am literally the Father of Facebook!”
I dig that. Marketing genius, even listing his Facebook group “painlessdrz” on his letter head.
There isn’t a great deal more of noteworthiness in the two page long letter. Plenty of jargon though and also an invitation for a free oral examination.
