Ask most people who have been up close and personal with a whale and they’ll probably say it was a tranquil, rather serene experience. These gentle giants are usually happy to keep to themselves, although it appears this particular humpback whale had something against a pair of kayakers.
The incident took place in California, the kayakers swimming through the midst of a large pod of feeding whales. Capt. Michael Sack of Sanctuary Cruises quoted here on Huffington Post:
Kayak whale watching can be extremely dangerous…And one should realize that humpback whales are wild animals and totally unpredictable. It’s a very uncontrolled environment out there.”
It’s all fun and games until someone gets jumped on…That was heavy.
